Department of Transportation to close access to the Route 6/10 Connector this weekend
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation will close Route 6 east at Route 10 north in Providence this weekend.
Starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, access to the Route 6/10 Connector inbound to the city will be closed. The changes will last until 6 a.m. on Monday.
The closure will allow the department to level and pave a section of where the routes merge.

The changes this weekend will also affect Route 10 north at the Route 6/10 interchange, reducing it to one lane.
The off-ramp from Route 10 south to Union Avenue will also be temporarily closed and will follow a detour using the Cranston Street exit.
This weekend's traffic disruptions are a part of the largest design-build project in the department's history. The $410 million Route 6/10 Interchange project is critical to link travel between Interstate 295, 95, and 195.
