Lawrence Gets $1.2M Grant For Station Road Connector Trail Project
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Township will be receiving a grant of $1,260,000 for Its Lawrence Station Road Connector Trail (LSRCT) project. The announcement was recently made by Municipal Manager Kevin Nerwinski.
The funds come from the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program (TASA) funding for the project by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).
The funds will help Lawrence create a path from the residential Lawrence Station Road communities to the Avalon Way and Quakerbridge Road commercial district.
Lawrence was among 47 applicants that received funding. There was a total of 104 applicants.
"We are excited to begin this important project which provides a safe 'multi-modal" path for residents to access local goods and services," Nerwinski said. "This will reduce dependency on cars and advance sustainability in our township."
TASA is administered by the NJDOT in partnership with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, and the South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization.
They aim to provide federal funds for "non-traditional" surface transportation-related projects in order to strengthen the cultural, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of the nation's intermodal system.
The LSRCT project is expected to be implemented within two years, contingent on the Township's compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and provisions.
